Are you ready for that interview?

Preparing for interview can be daunting.  Tomorrow evening’s workshop is an opportunity to learn a simple structure that will increase your clarity and confidence as you prepare for interview.  Bring along your CV and, if possible, a job description.

Body language affects how others see us, but it may also change how we see ourselves.  Check out this great talk on getting your body language right so that you can ‘fake it ’til you become it’.  http://bit.ly/VjrPRu

Are you ready for that Interview? Evening Workshop

Did you know that employers only want to know 3 things?

  • Can you do the job?
  • Will you do the job?

To be successful at interview, you must be able to tell the interviewer a story – the story of your Achievements.  And, this story must relate to the job description.

By the end of this evening workshop you will:

  • Learn a structure to prepare for interview
  • Be able to tell the story of your Achievements
  • Answer interview questions from the employer’s perspective
  • Have increased clarity and confidence

This is the final workshop in this series of Career Workshops.  Please pass it on.

A very enjoyable evening at Skills workshop

There was a great buzz at the Do You Know Your Skills? Workshop last night as people brainstormed each other’s potential careers based on the skills that they love using.

There was also lots and lots of chatting over tea afterwards which is a good sign and it brought a smile to my face :).

Next evening workshops in series of 4:

7 May – Does Your CV need a Makeover?
4 June – Are you ready for the Interview?

Do You Know Your Skills?

Following the great feedback from our last evening, I thought that it would be interesting to take a look at Skills this month.

Have you ever wondered ‘What are My Skills’?  For those of you job searching or considering a change of career, the first step to opening up your career horizons is to identify your transferable skills. This evening is designed to help you identify the skills that you enjoy using and that will give you a sense of satisfaction and fulfilment in your work.

At the end of the evening you will have identified your key transferable skills as well as skills that you may wish to develop.  With this valuable information, you will be in a position to review job descriptions with clarity about the work that will give you satisfaction while meeting the employers’ requirements.  You will also be clear on which skills you wish to include in your CV.

Workshop Details: Tuesday 9th April 7pm – 9.30pm in The Lantern Centre on 17 Synge St, Dublin 8. (Park in the school yard, room is in basement beside Lantern on Synge St itself).  Cost €15. There will be a cup of tea afterwards to share the experience with like-minded people.

I hope to see you there – please pass on to friends who may be interested.

Thanks. Mary 086 883 8383

Career Building Group

Do You Know What You Really Want?

It occurred to me that Dublin is ready to build a community of people who are ready for a change of career or who are job-hunting and want to develop their skills or improve their focus.  The group is called Career Building Group and there will be monthly meetings focused on different topics.

The first event is Do you know what you really want? – we will be creating our Career Vision Boards.  If you haven’t done a Vision Board before, it’s great fun and can be very inspiring.  It’s on Tuesday 12 March from 7pm – 9.30pm with a cup of tea afterwards to give you a chance to meet like-minded people and to chat about the evening.

Career Planning Workshop

Chrysalis has a special place in all our hearts, including mine.  I’m absolutely delighted that they have included my 1-day Career Planning Workshop in their Spring Programme on Saturday, 13th April from 10 am to 5 pm.

This is my first time presenting in their new venue in Greystones so I’m looking forward to spending a day near the sea and to popping over to the Happy Pear for lunch!  Why don’t you take a look at their website for more information about this programme or to check out their other really interesting workshops.
