A very enjoyable evening at Skills workshop

There was a great buzz at the Do You Know Your Skills? Workshop last night as people brainstormed each other’s potential careers based on the skills that they love using.

There was also lots and lots of chatting over tea afterwards which is a good sign and it brought a smile to my face :).

Next evening workshops in series of 4:

7 May – Does Your CV need a Makeover?
4 June – Are you ready for the Interview?

Do You Know Your Skills?

Following the great feedback from our last evening, I thought that it would be interesting to take a look at Skills this month.

Have you ever wondered ‘What are My Skills’?  For those of you job searching or considering a change of career, the first step to opening up your career horizons is to identify your transferable skills. This evening is designed to help you identify the skills that you enjoy using and that will give you a sense of satisfaction and fulfilment in your work.

At the end of the evening you will have identified your key transferable skills as well as skills that you may wish to develop.  With this valuable information, you will be in a position to review job descriptions with clarity about the work that will give you satisfaction while meeting the employers’ requirements.  You will also be clear on which skills you wish to include in your CV.

Workshop Details: Tuesday 9th April 7pm – 9.30pm in The Lantern Centre on 17 Synge St, Dublin 8. (Park in the school yard, room is in basement beside Lantern on Synge St itself).  Cost €15. There will be a cup of tea afterwards to share the experience with like-minded people.

I hope to see you there – please pass on to friends who may be interested.

Do You Know What You Really Want?

For those of you job searching or considering a change of career, why not pause for a moment before starting on the journey of planning, preparing and pursuing. Why not take a moment to reflect on what you really want from your work life?

This evening is about tapping into your own inner resources to visualise and experience what you really want. To create a career mind movie, to sit in that dream for a while, to pretend you have it already. What would it feel like to have that new job? What is the experience?

You will then create your own Career Vision Board, sometimes called a Career Dream Board, filled with pictures, affirmations and text that represent the experience that you want in your new job or career. To manifest your vision, you can take your Career Vision Board home with you, hang it somewhere that you will see it every day and then enjoy the journey!  Here’s an interesting video on How to Make a Vision Board.

Workshop Details:  Tuesday 12th March, 7pm – 9.30pm in The Lantern Centre on17 Synge St, Dublin 8. Cost €15. There will be a cup of tea afterwards to share the experience with like-minded people.

I hope to see you there – please pass on to friends who may be interested. Thanks. Mary
